SS Jeremiah O'Brien
The SS Jeremiah O'Brien is one of two remaining and operating Liberty ships of more than 2,700 built during World War II. The ship is a world-famous, historic site ( link ), representing the only surviving American cargo ship that served at D-Day in 1944.
Almost all of the ship is open to visitors, including the engine room used in the filming of the movie 'Titanic.'
You can visit the decks that transported Patton's tanks to Europe, the massive holds that delivered explosives to the Pacific - all at your own speed. The ship is a monument to American ingenuity and perseverance.
Run by volunteers, SS Jeremiah O'Brien is located at Pier 35.
